My name is Selene Ashcroft.
I was born in Lerwick, Shetland, in August 1974 and grew up between Aberdeen and Edinburgh, places that shaped both my imagination and my love for history and storytelling.
I studied English, History, and Journalism, and for many years my writing life followed a different path from fiction. Rather than creating my own worlds, I mostly wrote non-fiction books for and about other people, with a particular focus on biographical writing – helping to tell real stories, preserve memories, and bring lives onto the page.
Yet throughout those years, another story remained with me.
For more than thirty years, a fictional world and its characters have lived quietly in my mind, waiting for the right moment to be written.
Now, I am finally bringing that vision to life in the form of a trilogy of novels — a project that has stayed with me for decades and has become the fulfilment of a long-held dream to write my own stories.
Today, I live in a small fishing town, where I enjoy the quieter pace of life and, most importantly, the freedom to dedicate my time to writing fiction.
Writing has always been part of who I am. The difference now is that I am finally telling the stories that have waited patiently to be written.
